Virtual reality (VR) is fast becoming a by word for companies looking to advertise their products in more imaginative ways. Holden, the Australian car manufacturer has recently released a 360 degree VR video experience for its 2015 Colorado model.
The video sees the viewer in the passenger seat of the 2015 Holden Colorado as the driver races over rugged terrain in New Zealand’s South Alps, talking about the features of the car including the 2.8-litre engine and the hill descent system. There is a slightly dubious back story about secret agents and delivering a package but that doesn’t intrude to much into the experience.
While the video can be viewed in a compatible browser and controlled using the mouse or WASD keys, the best way to view the experience is by the YouTube app on a suitable smartphone. And if you have access to a Google Cardboard or similar viewer then the video can be watched in VR.
VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest announcements regarding virtual reality experiences and technology.
