The Japanese know how to embrace technology. Quite often they’re at the forefront of the newest and brightest gadgets around, and the companies based in Japan are good at what they do. So its no surprise that a new advert for Pepsi Strong would feature some cutting edge tech, in the form of virtual reality (VR)
The advert, which is shown below, has a Japanese girl going into a room with a spherical cage that houses a flat base to run on and a connected head-mounted display (HMD). Keen eyes will notice that the HMD is actually an Oculus Rift (DK2) with Pepsi Strong labelling on the headphones and HMD straps.
The girl is pitted against a giant monster hurtling rocks and smashing scenery as it tries to capture her. She runs, jumps, dodges and dashes her way through, trying to make sure she doesn’t get caught.
What would be interesting to know is if the videogame she is playing is a tech demo for the advert or an actual game that might be released, possibly as part of a promotion?
Any further updates or news that VRFocus hears will be followed up and reported back.
