Viewpoint Games’ first virtual reality (VR) videogame for the Samsung and Oculus VR’s mobile head-mounted display (HMD), VR Karts: Sprint has launched today. VR Karts: Sprint is a spin-off of Viewpoint Games VR Karts which launched on Steam Early Access, with support for the Oculus Rift HMD.
VR Karts: Sprint has nine unique tracks that are designed to take full advantage of the Gear VR hardware, whilst its PC brother currently only has four tracks and one environment to use. Viewpoint Games describes VR Karts: Sprint as a ‘fully featured title’ with single-player, championship and online multiplayer modes, the latter currently being absent from the PC version of the game. This is a VR title so players can race in first person, using the HMD’s head-tracking technology to realistically check around for other players or to help use the useable weapons and power ups that are featured.
Viewpoint Games have released the first proper online kart racing game for VR HMD’s with VR Karts: Sprint and will follow suit with its main title VR Karts soon. VRFocus will be here with further updates and announcements as and when they happen.
