Virtual Reality (VR) at this years Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) didn’t disappoint, lots of reveals, lots of demonstrations and more. But before E3 started, the press conferences are the big boys time to shine and show off what will be at the show. Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) had a good press conference albeit for the Project Morpheus head-mounted display (HMD) which was mentioned for just over 2 minutes during the 90 minute time period.
Luckily Shuhei Yoshida, SCE Head of World Wide Studios explained all in an interview to Greg Miller and Colin Moriarty of Gamespot’s, Kinda Funny. Revealing that VR needs to be experienced rather than viewed on a video wall, SCE decided to show the videogames available for demonstration on the show floor, and let the visitors experiencing Project Morpheus talk about the HMD and only when people have tried VR will the y know what the fuss is about.
The full interview is available below to watch, skip to 22 minutes in to hear Shuhei Yoshida talk about all things Project Morpheus, and he reiterates that the HMD is “on schedule” for the first half of 2016.
VRFocus will be there to follow all the announcements on Project Morpheus in the coming months.
