When Hollow Tree Games announced its Kickstarter campaign for Shape of the World, the developer had virtual reality (VR) compatibility as one of the stretch goals. Now the developer has recently updated its page to inform backers that it was ‘ready to commit’ to the technology.
Shape of the World is an exploration game in which a rich and colourful world grows around you. Your presence is the driving force behind the procedurally populated environment as you establish permanent monuments to mark your journey. It’s an evolving world that grows with each step and hints at distant landmarks, encouraging you to delve deeper into the woods. Shape of the World offers a unique unfolding experience for those seeking an alternative to quest-driven adventure games.
Whilst Hollow Tree Games has confirmed a commitment to VR, the developer does note: ” It’s too early to say exactly which platforms it will be on, but we’re committed to creating a proper implementation. We can’t offer a VR version as part of our initial release, but through your support we can make it happen with time. Backers will be offered the first chance to try it out.”
With the Kickstarter campaign in its last few days, and several thousand dollars still to go, VRFocus will be keeping an eye on Shape of the World and report any further updates.
