With so many big announcements for virtual reality (VR) at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) it’s important to remember the VR ecosystem isn’t just about Sony, Microsoft and Oculus there are other companies out there researching and creating and ultimately announcing and revealing their products at the event. Much as StarbreezeAB has with its head-mounted display StarVR.
Video eyewear and smart glass producer Vuzix is one such company launching products at E3, in this case the launch of pre-orders sales for their new high-definition iWear video headphones. In addition, the iWear has been given integrated motion tracking and can support OSVR, Unity 3D and Unreal Engine.
President and CEO of Vuzix, Paul Travers, commented, “We at Vuzix are excited to be attending E3 and showing off our new iWear video headphones and for the first time allowing the public, at a special pre-order price, to order their own. Winner of multiple awards at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, the iWear is now ready to be the most compatible VR and entertainment headset in the market thanks to supporting connectivity and content on almost any device that support HDMI outputs.”
The portable, battery powered video headphones are on sale at a special pre-order price of $449.99. With an intended shipping date of Fall 2015. Vuzix’s booth (number 2563) can be found in the south hall at E3, where you can find all their latest products on display. For more information go to Vuzix.com.
