New To VR: Plants Develop A Taste For Flesh In Sector 14 [UPDATED]

The universe is infinite (so far as we know) and the chances of humans being the only intelligent life out  there is, when you think about it, remote to the point of being utterly unrealistic. But what form would these other life forms take? Would they be bipeds like us? Two arms and two legs. Or, would they be something else entirely?

Sector 14 (or Secteur 14 to give it its original French language title) is a short exploration demo developed by Marc-André Voyer, in which occupants of a spacecraft send a drone down into another spaceship that they have discovered either floating in space or following a distress signal. Whichever it is the ship is certainly not deserted, as the corridors and hangers of the ship are covered in plants. Plants that not only can move but that have a degree of intelligence, or at least have developed an strong instinct to hunt. They have also seemingly developed a rather disturbing taste for what used to be the crew.

Developed in Unreal Engine 4, Sector 14 is now available on Oculus VR Share as is compatible with both the Oculus Rift DK1 and DK2 head-mounted displays (HMDs).

VRFocus will continue to bring you a daily dose of new VR apps, videogames and experiences that you can download for your VR HMD.

UPDATED: Sector 14 is now also available on WEARVR, the team there have produced a promotional video snippet which you can see below.
