One of the more popular and populous genres with virtual reality (VR) is flght, both through experience and simulation. Despite their number many have their own take on the flying experience and the mechanic is often requires different inputs or has different scenarios. See recent New To VR spotlight videogames Sploot and Attack On Rabbit as examples.
Discovery Andalusia Tourism is somewhat different to these however, as it is designed primarily to showcase a real location. Andalusia the southernmost region of Spain, itself divided into eight provinces territories: Almería, Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Málaga and its capital Seville. The app, developed as part of Spain’s first VR Jam by Innovavr, has you depart a futuristic spaceport after picking your province then has you take control of a glider to fly over the geography of the region.
This flying and exploration experience is compatible with the DK2 version of the Oculus Rift head-mounted display and the demo is available as a free download on WEARVR. You can see a video showcasing Discovery Andalusia Tourism at the bottom of this article.
