Perhaps one of the most anticipated upcoming titles for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) is SUPERHOT, the stylish first-person shooter (FPS) that raised over $250,000 USD through a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign back in 2014. The developer behind the videogame has been providing monthly updates on its progress of late. June 2015’s update, recently arrived and with it brought two brand news GIFs of the title in action. Both of these can now be seen below.
The first GIF showcases a slow-motion headshot, SUPERHOT style. In the title, players face off with red enemies that, as can clearly be seen, create something of a mess when taken down. The second GIF shows an instant in which one enemy is caught in the crossfire, suffering from friendly fire. Both provide a good look at the videogame’s minimalist art style.
In SUPERHOT, times moves only when the player does. When players stand still, the world itself stops. This allows players to navigate tight spaces and corridors without being hit by bullets, only one of which will kill them. Using the Oculus Rift’s positional tracking technology it’s possibly to physically lean out of the way of incoming fire. Players start out unarmed and must secure a weapon before clearing out all opponents.
VRFocus will continue to follow SUPERHOT, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
