Underwater virtual reality (VR) experiences have proved popular over the past few years, allowing users to dive into oceans and explore lost wrecks and exotic sea life. But what about exploring the world before the first humans had arrived? Well now that’s possible thanks to The Natural History Museum and Samsung’s Gear VR mobile device.
As VRFocus has previously reported the Natural History Museum, Atlantic Productions and Samsung has teamed up for a VR experience called, ‘David Attenborough’s First Life’. Viewers will journey into the ancient oceans using the Samsung Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD). Bringing to life ancient sea creatures that roamed Earth’s oceans more than 500 million years ago. With Sir David Attenborough as your guide, they’ll explore Cambrian period seas and get up close and personal to long extinct creatures such as the fearsome Anomalocaris and the worm-like Hallucigenia.
The video below is from the launch day, held last Friday 19th June, with interviews of those involved and showing visitors to expect from the experience.
VRFocus will be following any further updates from The Natural History Museum regarding VR.
