Maximum Games recently announced their line-up for next week’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Los Angeles, consisting of 3 console titles including the highly anticipated Lichdom: Battlemage. However, a fourth title has now been added: a virtual reality (VR) action/adventure videogame.
Anticipated to be a major theme at E3 this year, Maximum Games will mark their VR debut with a brand new videogame slated to launch in Spring 2016. Few details have currently been revealed thus far, however the developer has stated that it ‘will give players a fully immersive experience into a stunningly beautiful world that provides an elaborate and engrossing storyline which gamers will live rather than play’.
“This is going to be a multi-faceted game unlike other VR titles,” said Luke Shelnutt, Senior Producer at Maximum Games. “The game will feature full body rendering, which means that players literally step into a world where they can see their own bodies moving inside the virtual system.”
Christina Seelye, CEO of Maximum Games, added, “This is not a console game that is being ported to VR. This is a game exclusively constructed from top to bottom with the specific purpose of utilizing the VR strengths and immersing you into the VR experience.”
At present there is no confirmation of which head-mounted displays (HMDs) Maximum Games are currently developing for, however the suggestion of full body rendering would most closely align with the Valve/HTC collaborative effort, Vive. VRFocus will be at E3 next week and will report back with any further information from Maximum Games.
