2015 has already proved to be a big year for blockbusters and virtual reality (VR) companion apps. The recently release of Avengers: Age of Ultron was supported by a VR experience named Battle for Avengers Tower for Samsung’s Gear VR mobile head-mounted display (HMD). The next big release for the year is fourth instalment in the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World. As is almost to be expected by now, a new VR experience will be accompanying the movie, offered by Best Buy and again appearing on Gear VR.
The app is the result of a new partnership between Samsung and Universal Studios. Little is known about the piece right now other than it will let users explores a ‘Jurassic environment’. Jurassic World itself stars Chris Pratt and is set to open on 12th June. From now until then fans can head to the Samsung Entertainment Experience booths as Best Buy stores around the USA to view an exclusive clip from the film running on the latter’s SUHD displays.
It’s not clear if the piece may eventually release on consumer Gear VR kits, though many similar experiences do end up being available. VR is becoming an increasingly important part of brand’s marketing campaigns in this way.
VRFocus will continue to follow any and all experiences for Gear VR, reporting back with the latest updates on them.
