One for the great features of virtual reality (VR) is the ability to enjoy experiences, from deep-sea diving, to exploring the wilderness of northern Canada. So active holiday specialist Neilson is using VR technology to allow customers to ‘have a go before you go’ at either windsurfing or skiing.
Neilson is using Oculus Rift head-mounted displays (HMD) combined with rumble pads and wind machines to create a simulator that allows customers using real video footage filmed at a Neilson Beachclub and a Neilson Ski holiday to experience windsurfing or skiing for up to 90 seconds at a time.
The simulator will be going around the UK starting at Westfield Stratford on Saturday June 27 and Sunday June 28, before heading to the Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham and to Portsmouth.
For anyone who has not yet tried current VR technology, this is a great way to experience the immersive world of virtual reality, whilst out doing some shopping.
Neilson has now reopened for this year’s summer holiday season its ten Beachclubs across Turkey and Greece, and all activities are included for guests.
VRFocus will be reporting on any further news regarding Neilson and its VR holiday experiences.
