Over the weekend StarbreezeAB, otherwise known as Starbreeze Studios revealed two virtual reality (VR) products that would be shown at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The first followed the announcement of their own head-mounted display (HMD), the 5K resolution StarVR HMD, which has been made in conjunction with InfinitEye and will be used a way to stake the studios claim as a viable publisher of VR content for other studios on the SteamVR platform.
The second piece of news involved the announcement by Starbreeze’s studio OVERKILL of a VR version of their forthcoming experience based on popular comic and television property The Walking Dead.
Previously no game play had been seen, however in a pre-E3 stream the studio revealed footage for the first time of creepy visuals in a detailed zombie-infested hospital. No official trailer has been released yet, and it is unclear how this fits in with the recently announced VR version. However you can see a recording of the steam footage below which will give you an impression of the tone and look OVERKILL are producing in the main videogame.
VRFocus will be on hand to bring you all the VR news coming out of E3 and elsewhere over the next week. Stay tuned for the very latest.
