Last year saw one of the original virtual reality (VR) meetups, Silicon Vallery VR (SVVR), grow into one of the biggest events on the tech’s calendar with the SVVR Conference & Expo. The event proved to be a big success, with a range of developers and industry figureheads, including Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) creator Palmer Luckey, attending. SVVR Conference & Expo is set to return later this month, and has recently announced its schedule, revealing some key speakers and panellists that will be attending.
The event takes place on 18th – 19th May 2015 in the San Jose Convention Center. The first day will see the return of the popular 60-Second Pitches session in which developers and hardware manufacturers will have a limited amount of time to pitch their VR products. Valve’s Joe Ludwig will also be on-hand on the first day to talk about ‘OpenVR and You’, referring to the new software development kit (SDK) that the company launched last week for its SteamVR system and Vive HMD. Among a wide range of other talks on the first day is Brad Herman from DreamWorks Animation, discussing the company’s work in the field.
But talks aren’t all there are to attend at the event; both Oculus VR and Leap Motion will be hosting workshops on the first day. The second day will also see workshops from Sixense and Unity. Leap Motion also pops up again with a talk from David Holz on The Future of Wearable Displays and Inputs. Nvidia’s Nathan Reed will also be discussing the company’s ‘VR Direct’ concept on the second day while there will be panels on both cinematic VR and indie development for the technology. There are still a host of sessions to be detailed, however.
There’s plenty to see and do at this year’s edition of SVVR Conference & Expo, then. Tickets to the event can still be purchased from the official website. VRFocus will be at the event to bring you all of the latest updates on the technology.
