VRFocus has already reported on the news that Triangular Pixels, the UK-based team currently working on the virtual reality (VR) compatible Smash Hit Plunder, has its own entry for Oculus VR’s ongoing Mobile VR Jam in Double Destruction for the Gear VR smartphone-based head-mounted display (HMD). This week saw the Jam pass its fourth major milestone, which means completed builds have now been submitted to Oculus VR for judging. That means that Gear VR owners can now download the submitted build of Double Destruction for themselves. A video showing players what to expect can be seen below.
The build can be downloaded either through Triangular Pixels’ official entry page for the Jam or via its own site. The title is a two player experience in which one user straps on a Gear VR while another uses a ‘reasonably modern’ Android device. Playing in first-person, the player using the Gear VR will find themselves trapped in a miniature dungeon and must gather Runes to fill a meter that will then return them to normal size. Meanwhile, the other player will use their own device to keep the Gear VR user’s path lit and scaring away enemies.
Fans can also now vote for Double Destruction as part of the Community Voted option in the VR Jam, which is offering a $10,000 USD prize. As part of the videogame track of the competition, the developers hope to secure a grand prize of $200,000. Runner-up awards include $100,000, $50,000, and $30,000.
VRFocus will continue to follow each and every VR Jam entrant, reporting back with the latest on them.
