Focus Home Interactive’s Space Hulk: Deathwing was originally announced way back in 2013, and in early 2014 was shown running on an Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) as a prototype virtual reality (VR) experience. However, in recent months very little has been heard about the title. That was until today, when the publisher confirmed that Space Hulk: Deathwing would make an appearance as part of its Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) line-up.
Space Hulk: Deathwing is a first-person shooter (FPS) videogame based on the infamous Games Workshop franchise. Taking on the role of a Space Marine Terminator, the player will fight off legions of Genestealer foes in a derelict space station. Space Hulk: Deathwing is currently in development for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, and was confirmed to be VR compatible as a fuller experience last year.
Exactly what will be available at E3 is not yet known. It’s entirely possible that a new VR build will be presented, however both Focus Home Interactive and Streumon Studios have been very reluctant to discuss this aspect of the videogame’s development.
E3, Los Angeles, will take place from 16th – 19th June 2015. VRFocus will be at the event reporting back with all the latest developments in both VR software and hardware.
