The full launch of Tammeka Games’ Radial-G is finally nearing. The virtual reality (VR) compatible racing title has been in Steam Early Access since late 2014, but is now preparing for its big release at the end of May 2015. Before that can happen, though, Tammeka Games must release its third and final update to the pre-release version of the title. This week has seen the developer reveal exactly what will be included in this update.
As Tammeka Games has explained in a Steam post, Radial-G Update #3 is designed to be a smaller content drop that sets the stage for the main release. As per usual, the update will include two brand new race tracks, which will bring the total of levels to nine. There will also be new music tracks and finished versions of pre-existing ones. There’s also a new track selection scene which the developer notes ‘looks amazing in VR’.
Those that test out the new update will be able to grab some bonuses, including a special skin for a ‘secret ship’ and a special Steam Achievement to recognise playing a part in the Early Access phase. Tammeka Games also notes that Radial-G‘s £9.99 GBP Early Access price will increase with the full launch.
The developer is currently looking to release Update #3 around 14th May, with a ‘soft launch’ of the title’s single player career mode taking place around 21st May. The full title will be hitting in the final week of the month, though a more specific date is yet to be revealed. Following on from there, Tammeka Games plans to keep Radial-G up-to-date with plenty of DLC drops and new versions for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. Support for the Project Morpheus HMD is expected for the latter.
Earlier today Tammeka Games teased that it would have ‘at least one’ VR title ready for the launch of the consumer Oculus Rift in Q1 2016. VRFocus will continue to follow Radial-G closely, reporting back with the latest on the title.
