Plugged Dev Pledges to Push on as Kickstarter Failure Looms

Late last month indie developer Endtimes Studios launched a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign for a new virtual reality (VR) videogame named Plugged. The studio had hoped to raise £20,000 GBP by 30th May in order to bring the title to PC with full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display. Sadly, with mere hours to go at the time of writing, it doesn’t look as if Plugged will not be reaching its goal with just under £18,000 left to go. That said, the developer has pledged to continue work on the project.

“It’s been a hell of a ride, we received lots of love from our fans and supporters,” CEO Vladimir Peric said of the campaign. “Now it’s time we go back to our game, polish and refine it until Plugged offers the best possible adventure experience. We’d like to say a big “thank you!” to all our supporters and fans around the globe. You gave us loads of positive energy and trust, we promise we won’t let you down! Big thanks for all the media who wrote about us too and to all the people sharing Plugged news on their social networks. Getting where we are wouldn’t be possible without you.”

Endtimes Studios has described Plugged as a ‘new breed’ of first-person adventure videogame. The title aims to put a spin on classic point and click gameplay by allowing players to select objects to interact with simply by looking at them. The story revisits key moments in the protagonist’s life, allowing players to make their own choices that will shape the course of the narrative. You might have to choose between going to a much-needed job interview of spending time with a high school sweetheart, for example. The choices players make will result in a number of different endings.

The title was originally aiming for a July 2015 release, though this has now been postponed with the developer considering a launch for the release of the Oculus Rift in Q1 2016. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s progress, reporting back with the latest on it.
