It’s been a while since UK-based developer nDreams has provided an update on its upcoming virtual reality (VR) dedicated adventure videogame, The Assembly. The title was first revealed for both the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) on PC and Project Morpheus HMD on PlayStation 4 back at E3 2014. Since then the developer has had its hands full releasing both Gunner and Perfect Beach on the Gear VR mobile HMD. With these two titles now out, it appears that nDreams is turning its attention to The Assembly once more.
The developer has recently launched a brand new website that details both its Gear VR projects and its upcoming title. It promises that a brand new trailer for The Assembly will be revealed just over a week from now on 4th June 2015. “Having first announced The Assembly at E3 2014, we’ve gained a vast amount of experience over the past year in the fast-moving world of VR development,” the developer explains in a post on the new site. “Now, we’re looking forward to revealing the re-engineered version of the game.”
The original version of the title cast players as two separate characters that belonged to a mysterious organisation known as The Assembly. One was a newcomer named Madeleine Stone and the other is a long-term member by the name of Joel Pearson. Played from a first-person perspective, the title sees these characters explore the organisation’s underground headquarters, where strange experiments are being carried out. Players will solve puzzles and make tough choices as they progress through the experience. It’s not known how much of this will have changed for the new version.
It’s not yet clear if The Assembly will also be making an appearance at E3 2015 later on in June, nor if it might possibly arrive on the HTC Vive HMD, which was announced well after the title itself. VRFocus will continue to follow The Assembly closely, reporting back on any further updates on the title.
