Following the announcement of Invasion Force, the latest virtual reality (VR) project from Ghost Machine, the official playable version of the alpha has now been made available. Furthermore, the studio has launched a Steam Greenlight campaign and announced their intentions to develop the videogame for Valve and HTC’s forthcoming Vive head-mounted display (HMD).
The alpha version of the videogame, available now for those who pre-order the videogame directly from Ghost Machine’s website, is compatible with the second iteration of the Oculus Rift development kit, aka DK2. A Windows-only build is currently available, however Mac and Linux formats will also be supported in due course.
Speaking about the videogame launch, Neal Nellans, Ghost Machine CEO, stated, “Invasion Force is a project that we’ve been developing since last year, and we’re excited to finally be able to share this early build of the game with Oculus DK2 players.”
Invasion Force is currently expected to ship on Steam VR with support for the latest Oculus Rift HMD and the upcoming HTC Vive, as well as a standard version for those not owning a VR HMD in winter 2015.
