Independent videogame developer Space Bear has revealed to VRFocus that a crowd-funding campaign for the forthcoming Galaxy Heist will launch next month. A space combat experience featuring first-person gameplay, Galaxy Heist is built using Unreal Engine 4 and will be compatible with the Oculus Rift head-mounted displays (HMDs).
Galaxy Heist is a videogame experience made of multiple components. Players will pilot their vessel through space or take control of a drone for some dog fighting. Once you’ve disabled an enemy ship you can take control of one of your turrets and fire the tether. If it’s a hit then you’ll automatically begin to real them in and begin the boarding process. Moving to a first-person shooter (FPS) style gameplay arrangement, you must fight your way to the ship’s flight deck and begin the self destruct sequence.
Developer Ryan Lee is coy about the execution of virtual reality (VR) gameplay in Galaxy Heist, simply stating: “It’s definitely enjoyable to walk around inside your ship in VR.”
Currently in development for PC, Space Bear has hinted at the possibility of bringing Galaxy Heist to additional formats. More details will likely be revealed at the time of the Kickstarter campaign launch, currently set for 1st June 2015. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on Galaxy Heist and other VR crowd-funding campaigns.
