Today sees the launch of a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign for a new virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) by the name of FOVE. The company behind the device is looking for $250,000 USD to put towards the kit’s development. FOVE separates itself from other HMDs by putting a full focus on eye-tracking, something that doesn’t feature in any of its rivals. VRFocus recently spoke to the company’s Lochlainn Wilson about the campaign and the device itself.
In the interview below Wilson talks about how eye-tracking can be applied to a number of different experiences as well as how developers might be able to port pre-existing VR experiences to the device. There’s also talk about other control methods to combine with FOVE’s eye-tracking and more.
VRFocus will continue to follow FOVE closely, reporting back with any further updates on the device.
