Austin based virtual reality (VR) studio, Ghost Machine, has today announced that Final Strike, will be launching in alpha this week and is now available for pre-order. Following a successful Greenlight campaign, this first edition of the videogame is playable with the second iteration of the Oculus Rift development kit (aka DK2).
Ghost Machine describe Final Strike as an ‘edge-of-your-seat F-16 jet fighter simulator that puts you against an airborne invasion of alien fighters’. The videogame has been designed to be fully compatible with VR head-mounted displays (HMDs), including in-game VR menus, HUDs, and fully 3D cockpits with working controls and gauges.
“We’re continually adapting our VR development as systems improve and players tastes become more attuned to the emerging VR landscape. Final Strike has become one of our most immersive experiences, and we’re happy to finally be able to put it in players hands and get feedback from the VR community,” states Neal Nellans, CEO of Ghost Machine.
Ghost Machine currently has 8 VR videogames in production, including Zombie Taxi Apocalypse, which challenges players to complete a work day as a taxicab driver in an apocalyptic zombie-filled Manhattan. The alpha version of Final Strike will be available to download from 7th May 2015, from Ghost Machine’s official website, and VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest releases from Ghost Machine.
