Many may be mourning the loss of Silent Hills this week, but virtual reality (VR) technology ensures that the horror genre in general has a bright future ahead of it. VR provides a sense of isolation and immersion that enhances the atmosphere this genre can achieve by tenfold. This week sees Dark Riddle, an Italy-based indie developer, release a brand new horror experience for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). That title is HEADS.
HEADS can currently be downloaded via Dark Riddles’ official website. A version for standard monitors is free to play, although the VR edition, which supports the Oculus Rift’s second development kit (DK2), costs €1.99 EUR. The title is a first-person experience set in a dank, disturbing series of corridors. Along with scary elements, the piece also contains several puzzles.
VRFocus will continue to follow any and all VR compatible experiences, reporting back with the latest updates on them.
