The development of EVE: Valkyrie has been a long and protracted story. From humble beginnings the title has become the poster child of AAA virtual reality (VR), however it hasn’t got this far without hitting a couple of stumbling blocks. To aid the project as it reaches for the home stretch, CCP Games Newcastle is looking for a new Development Director to join the team.
Advertised directly on CCP Games’ official website, the position is a high ranking role that demands significant experience in the videogames industry. Requiring that applicants have already shipped 2 or more AAA titles in a management role, the Development Director would be directly responsible for team management and the development budget.
The description of the role on CCP Games’ official website reads: “EVE: Valkyrie, the award winning virtual reality space combat game, is looking for an experienced Development Director to join its growing team in Newcastle. Reporting to the Executive Producer, the Development Director is accountable for managing all aspects of the development process which will allow the team to execute and deliver on both the creative vision and the commercial ambitions of the game. As part of a small dynamic team working on cutting edge technology, the ideal candidate would be flexible enough to contribute to the development of the game as well as management of the studio outside of traditional project management responsibilities.”
VRFocus has been hands-on with EVE: Valkyrie a number of times as well as meeting with members of the development team on a number of occasions. VRFocus will continue to follow EVE: Valkyrie as it approaches launch alongside the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus VR devices early next year.
