Sports titles present a unique opportunity for virtual reality (VR) videogames, putting players in the roles of their favourite athletes. Few developers are acting on this potential at this point in time, although one that is is Coretec Co., Ltd. Recently the developer released a new baseball experience titled See Ball, which features full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD).
See Ball is described by its developer as a very simple title in which players only need to bat a ball that is thrown to them away at the right time. A board in the background informs players of the speed of their last hit, although the stadium in which players find themselves is empty.
The title is designed to work with both the first and second development kits for the Oculus Rift (DK1 and DK2). It is available for free over on Oculus VR’s content sharing platform, the Oculus VR Share Beta. There is currently no word on if the developer intends to add to the experience over time.
VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, reporting back with the latest updates.
