Developers looking to enter virtual reality (VR) development jams are spoilt for choice at the moment. Oculus VR is currently hosting its global Mobile VR Jam for those looking to work with the Gear VR smartphone-based head-mounted display (HMD) and Owlchemy Labs has recently revealed a Room-Scale Jam for Valve’s Vive HMD, set to take place in Austin, Texas in May 2015. For those not looking to make a trip to the USA or hoping to work with other HMDs, indie developer Shayla Games has revealed that is hosting its second jam in Copenhagen, Denmark next month.
Taking place over the weekend of 22nd – 24th May 2015 at the Aalbord University Copenhagen, the Shayla Games VR Jam will consist of an initial day of talks, panels and the A MAZE VR Expo on the first day. Jam entries will get started on that evening and will then be submitted on the afternoon of the 24th. The event is set to be supported by high-profile VR outlets including Oculus VR, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), Valve, Samsung, Unity, OSVR and CCP Games. Just which of these companies will be speaking at the event isn’t clear.
‘Early Horse Tickets’ for Shayla Games are available now for DKK 399.00. Prizes will be up for grabs in the jam itself, though these haven’t been revealed just yet. Various other events are planned throughout the weekend, including a rubber dinghy race and after party. As is already being proved with the Oculus VR Mobile VR Jam, events such as these are the perfect venue to creative innovative and often unusual VR experiences.
VRFocus will continue to follow the Shayla Games VR Jam, reporting back with any further updates on its progress.
