Those looking for virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs) outside of names such as Oculus VR, Samsung and Valve may well have heard of ImmersiON-VRelia, the start up company currently working on a smartphone-based device known as The GO and another, high-end HMD known as The Pro Blue Sky. The company originally formed as a merger between ImmersiON and VRelia themselves and has recently announced a new partnership with digital imaging technology company, XPAND.
XPAND currently offers a range of products and services centred around 3D content. Partnered with ImmersiON-VRelia, the pair aim to provide new high-end solutions for VR, looking at areas including acquisition, deployment and visualization of immersive and interactive virtual reality content and experiences for both professional and entertainment industries. Specific projects from the companies are yet to be announced, though XPAND will reportedly support adoption of its partner’s products through its distribution channels.
It’s currently not clear when ImmersiON-VRelia plans to release The Pro Blue Sky, nor just how it will go about doing so. The device is intended for out of home use.
VRFocus will continue to follow ImmersiON-VRelia and XPAND’s work in VR, reporting back with the latest updates from the companies.
