Last month VRFocus reported on an update from Poland-based developer The Farm 51 that reassured fans that its upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible first-person shooter (FPS), Get Even, was still very much in development. The studio revealed that it was now working with a ‘global publisher’ on the title, which is coming to both the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) on PC and the Project Morpheus HMD on PlayStation 4. But that doesn’t appear to be all that The Farm 51 is working on in the realms of VR.
The developer has recently teased what appears to be a new VR-dedicated division named Reality 51. That name was first revealed over on Facebook, where The Farm 51 promised that information on the service would be arriving this month. The message also suggests that Reality 51 may be dedicated to marketing experiences rather than videogame development, as the studio revealed that it is set to showcase VR versions cars from Arrinera Automotive SA at the 2015 Pozna? Motor Show from 10th – 12th April. A photo of the booth can be seen below with an Oculus Rift in plain sight.
A Facebook page for Reality 51 already exists, although only holds a logo for the group at this point in time. Whether this is an entirely new studio or another division of The Farm 51 remains to be seen but, either way, it suggests that the developer is steadily shifting its focus towards VR. Get Even itself is sounding like an ambitious VR videogame to say the least, allowing players to invade other’s campaigns. A variety of gadgets will be available for players to utilise, although little else is known about the videogame at this point in time.
VRFocus will continue to follow Reality 51 and The Farm 51’s work in VR, reporting back with any further updates.
