Virtual reality (VR) adventure title Plugged has been on the radar for a number of months now, following it’s debut on Steam Greenlight and the launch of a demo version via Oculus Share. Both those efforts have been warmly received by the VR community, leading to the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for the videogame.
Plugged will feature a decision-driven narrative in which the player’s choices promise to have meaningful impact upon their progress. This, the official Kickstarter campaign page suggests, will ‘result in completely different stories’. An example is offered in that the first decision you have to make is to choose between going to an interview for a job you need or a hotel rendezvous with your high-school sweetheart. Of course, the resulting affect in real-life depending on your decision could be dramatically different; so too will be true of Plugged.
Endtimes Studios claim Plugged is a ‘new breed of adventure game’, which the team have dubbed ‘look-and-click adventure’. Developed using Unreal Engine 4 Plugged adds the depth of a 3D environment to the traditional point-n’-click genre staples and includes full support of the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) as standard, but doesn’t require VR devices to play.
Comprised of experienced developers who have previously working for Blizzard Entertainment, TakeOne studio, Games Workshop and Eipix Entertainment among others, Endtimes Studios have set the target goal of £20,000 GBP for their Kickstarter campaign. Backers can pledge to reward tiers beginning at just £5, with every tier above £10 earning you a copy of the videogame upon it’s completion. A pledge of £600 will allow you to add your likeness to Plugged and those who donate £1,000 will be able to design their own puzzle for the videogame.
