Last week VRFocus reported on the news that indie developer Psytec Games is planning to launch the Early Access version of its upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible dungeon crawling videogame, Crystal Rift, later on in April 2015. The news followed the reveal of a new, discounted pre-order page over on the Humble Store. Today, Psytec Games has confirmed a specific launch date for the pre-release version of the title as well as details on just what fans can expect to see in the initial version.
The Early Access edition of Crystal Rift will release on 20th April 2015 with support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). Those that have pre-ordered the title either through the official website, Humble Store or via its Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign will be sent a Steam Key prior to its launch. The pre-release version of the videogame will include the entire first act of the single-player campaign as well as a chance to finally try out Crystal Rift‘s level editor. The editor will allow players to create their own challenges for other to attempt. Psytec Games will be taking feedback from sample.
“We are very excited and proud with what we have achieved with Crystal Rift and we think that it is an amazing experience,” Psytec Games said of the title. “We want everyone we can to play the game we have made so far, which represents the 1st act of the game and around 2 hours of gameplay, but we also want you to hear the awesome theme tune, and play with the Level Editor – something we are particularly happy with. But we are also looking for you (yes you!) to help us make this the game you want! Are you ready? Can you survive the Dungeon, and not turn back from the monsters you’ll meet along the way? We can’t wait to see!”
Crystal Rift is also heading to Gear VR, and the developer has expressed interest in a version for the HTC Vive. Check back to VRFocus later today for a full interview with Psytec Games’ Job Hibbins on Crystal Rift‘s progress.
