Here at VRFocus we’ve often cover news of Steam Greenlight and Kickstarter projects, but ‘The Raven VR’ is a little different in that regard, instead seeing funds from artistic crowdfunding platform Patreon. Michigan-based creator Thomas Pasieka, is hoping to recreate Edgar Allan Poe’s iconic poem, in which the eponymous bird visits a grieving man only to seemingly aid in his fall into madness in virtual reality (VR). Using the likes of Maya LT, Substance Painter, 3DCoat and Unity3d to create a PC/Mac experience that will work on the Oculus Rift head-mounted device (HMD) and also on standard monitors.
The project, which he terms an ‘audio-visual art experience’, is seeking additional support through Patreon to allow Pasieka to continue working on it. Backers are to receive updates on the project and be able to view additional items, such as the 3D models from the project online.
Should you wish to back his Patreon, which starts at $1 a month for backers, you can find details here: https://www.patreon.com/thomaspasieka
VRFocus will continue to bring you news on independant and studio virtual reality works.
