Last year saw the release of Norweigan developer Krillbite Studio’s first project in the virtual reality (VR) compatible Among The Sleep. Around the time of the PC version’s release the studio also revealed that its unique horror experience would be coming to the PlayStation 4, and that the team was looking to support Sony Computer Entertainment’s (SCE) Project Morpheus head-mounted display (HMD). Few details on the port have been revealed since that time, although the developer has recently teased that it could be arriving in the near future.
Krillbite Studio recently took to Twitter to post an image of what appears to be one of the developers using a PlayStation 4 controller, as seen below. “Is that a Playstation 4 controller?” the message accompanying the image reads. “Wonder what he’s playing.. #comingsoon #PS4.” It’s never specifically stated that Among The Sleep is the topic of the tweet, but with its PlayStation 4 version already confirmed it’s certainly the most likely candidate. A more specific date past the tease of ‘coming soon’ was not mentioned.
If Among The Sleep really is due to arrive on PlayStation 4 in the near future, then it will have to do so without Project Morpheus support. SCE recently confirmed that its device wouldn’t be going on sale to consumers until the first half of 2016. Of course, it’s always possible that Krillbite Studio updates its videogame with support for the device post-launch.
Among The Sleep is a first-person horror experience that casts players as a child that investigates noises heard in the middle of the night alongside his teddy bear. Following its release, Krillbite Studio provided a free expansion to the title. It’s not yet clear if this extra content will be included in the PlayStation 4 version of the title.
VRFocus will continue to follow Among The Sleep closely, reporting back with any further updates on its PlayStation 4 port.
