Ever since the reveal of the HTC Vive virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) at Mobile World Congress (MWC) earlier in the week many have wondered if Valve, the company behind the device in partnership with HTC, would be demoing new software with the tech. As it turns out, the company has at least one original demo to show on Vive at MWC and the Game Developers Conference (GDC) this year. The demo is based on the company’s popular Portal series.
Those attending the shows this year have confirmed that Valve is showing off a new demo set inside Aperture Science, the twisted company behind the iconic Portal gun used in the videogames. It’s not clear if the mechanics of the series, namely being able to create two portals for transportation, play any part in the demo.
VRFocus is at GDC 2015 this year to bring you all of the latest updates on VR technology.
