VRFocus has reported on virtual reality (VR) series Synthesis Universe in the past as the title was made available on Oculus VR Share. Now a work in progress demo has been shown detailing the music system. The title utilises the Oculus Rift second development kit (DK2) head-mounted display (HMD). As well as this the title is currently working with the Razer Hydra motion controllers.
The series Synthesis Universe takes place a thousand years after a civilisation has left its home world. After this amount of time, a probe is sent back to re-activate the dormant main robot manager of the city. However things aren’t how they were left as the machines have evolved. The civilisations technology and language was all based on music as shown in the video below.
As shown in the video below, using the Hydra controllers allow the player in interact with the different buttons. Some will produce a constant melody, others will provide a short burst of sound. Behind the player are beams of light in which when interrupted will also play certain tones.
The developer Olivier JT has stated that a multiplayer will be integrated. A demo will be shown around at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) this week. VRFocus will keep you updated on the latest from Synthesis Universe.
