Previously VRFocus reported on Jon Hibbins’ virtual reality (VR) title Crystal Rift coming to Samsung’s Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD). The title has recently unveiled a video showing off key videogame aspects including its dungeon editor. It is due to be compatible with both the Oculus Rift as well as the Gear VR.
Crystal Rift puts players in a dungeon within a square grid. While exploring the dungeon, players avoid traps as well as collect crystals. The crystals act as either power-ups or keys which will let the player progress further. On some occasions users may be required to slay enemies or even solve puzzles. All of this is customisable as the player can create and share their own dungeon by placing objects in a grid. Then they can set challenges for the community to defeat.
The video shows off different aspects of the dungeon including varied areas complete with different traps. Among them are balls of energy that seem to launch at the player. Others are spikes which can come down on the player to block their path or even kill them. Also shown is the map editor. As suggested by the video, the editing is made simple so that players don’t have to spend too long on one map. Everything is customisable down the traps that can be places.
VRFocus will keep you updated on Crystal Rift progresses.
