Earlier in the month VRFocus reported on news that upcoming first-person shooter (FPS) One Bitten, Twice Dead, would be receiving support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). A few weeks on and developer Dark Day Interactive has launched a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign for its title, hoping to raise $20,000 AUD towards its continued development on PC, Mac, Linux and Wii U. The campaign is running for around a month, coming to a close on 17th April 2015.
Once Bitten, Twice Dead places players in a zombie-infested world. Assuming the role of one of 15 different types of characters, players will fight back against the hordes using over 50 unique weapons. Each character comes with their own skill sets and can craft 100 different items. Camps can also be built in order to defend from zombies come nightfall. An Infected Mode in which players can control a zombie themselves is also planned. The title boasts a cartoon art style that forms a vast open world. Multiplayer will also feature.
“That’s right: if we can make it to our main goal we’ll add Oculus Rift support for Once Bitten, Twice Dead!” the campaign page reads. “The game would definitely look great in the Oculus Rift OLED screens, and once we’re funded we’ll start to work hard on making this happen. All we need is for you to spread the word about Once Bitten, Twice Dead, and to back us, of course!”
A pre-alpha demo for Once Bitten, Twice Dead can currently be downloaded from the Kickstarter campaign page. Those interested in the experience can pledge $9 to secure a copy of the title on Steam, with release aiming for October 2015. The title is also currently running a Steam Greenlight campaign.
VRFocus will continue to follow Once Bitten, Twice Dead, reporting back with any further updates from the title.
