Virtual Reality (VR) Los Angeles (VRLA) will be take place on the 22nd March 2015. The show will bring together videogame developers and VR enthusiasts alike in order to showcase products as well as view some of the scheduled panels which will detail what companies have been learning from VR. Now, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has announced that they are now a platinum sponsor for VRLA.
Not only is AMD now a sponsor, they have also been working on fixing technical and neurological issues facing VR like motion sickness and latency issues with its Liquid VR software development kit (SDK). The Liquid VR SDK comes with many different features including an affinity multi GPU for each eye to prevent duplication. It has also been stated to reduce latency and eliminate juddering.
During the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2015, AMD stated: “You can plug an Oculus Rift into a computer and start 3D rendering directly to the headset, even without Oculus’ SDK”. The aim for AMD is to create a plug in and play experience for VR head mounted displays (HMD).
AMD’s Raja Koduri has also stated the company’s ambitions for photorealistic content in VR as well as creating an all round comfortable experience, not just reserved for videogames.
