Last week saw Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) creator Oculus VR confirm that it would be heading to the 2015 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, California, USA this March with its ‘latest prototypes’ in tow. At the same time, the company confirmed that it would be co-hosting a mixer with Women in Games International (WIGI), allowing members of the VR community and beyond to meet up. Now the pair have started to offer free tickets to the event, operating on a first-come first-serve basis.
Tickets are now available from an EventBrite page. “VR is still very young,” the event’s description reads, “and now is the best time to define what’s possible. To help VR reach its enormous potential, we need a diverse and talented community of developers to make it a fun and engaging experience for everyone. As part of that effort, we want to welcome and support women developers both to the VR community and to the Oculus team.” Oculus VR will also provide prototype demo stations for attendees to sample.
Tickets for the event are going fast, although a waiting list category is also available for those that miss out at first. The event takes place on 3rd March from 20:00 PST to 23:00 at The Village, 969 Market St, 3rd Floor. Members of the Oculus VR team will be on hand along with the Crescent Bay prototype for the Oculus Rift and Gear VR, the smartphone-based HMD that was created in partnership with Samsung. VRFocus will be at GDC 2015 to bring you all of the latest updates on VR.
