Virtual reality (VR) is most notably attached to videogames because of the increase in videogame companies who are willing to take on the new frontier in the industry. However, VR is just as much a new medium of storytelling for filmmakers as it is for videogame developers. Using VR technology, many film companies have started to research ways in which a story can be conveyed. Fire Panda’s Nick Pittom will be discussing the ‘Real-time VR storytelling experiences – Opportunities and possibilities for Filmmakers and Animation Studios’ at South West Virtual Reality Conference (SWVRC) 2015.
Fire Panda is currently working on Echo Red. The videogame puts players in the role of a red panda in the middle of a surreal and humorous adventure. Pittom himself is also helping develop Crystal Rift, a first person dungeon crawler videogame.
