It’s a busy time for indie developer, Ghost Machine. With the launch of a third Steam Greenlight campaign for a new virtual reality (VR) compatible videogame earlier this week, the developer is now turning its attention to one of its first VR projects; SuperBike TT. The Austin, Texas-based studio has today confirmed the release date for the Early Access version of this upcoming racing experience, which features full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD).
SuperBike TT will launch on Steam on 25th February 2015. It marks the second release from the developer following the launch of MotorSport Revolution as an Early Access title in 2014 and then in full last month. That said, SuperBike TT actually began life earlier as the developer’s first demo for the Oculus Rift’s first development kit (DK1). The developer anticipates the title staying in the Early Access stages for a number of weeks before moving into a full launch later in the year.
“We could not be more excited to offer SuperBike TT on Steam. Seeing the growing support of VR in the games community as a whole shows the promise for developers who are taking the risk to focus on developing VR native games before the hardware is commercially available,” stated Neal Nellans, CEO of Ghost Machine. As the name suggests, the title allows players to race around courses on super bikes. A price for the title is yet to be announced.
VRFocus will continue to follow SuperBike TT, reporting back with any further updates on the experience.
