Fans of surreal and comedic videogames may well already be familiar with Soda Drinker Pro, the self-dubbed first-person soda simulator. This unique experience was launched on PC years ago and even started a Steam Greenlight campaign to launch on Valve’s digital store back in 2013. Now, just over a year on, Soda Drinker Pro has finally been greenlit on the service and is planning to launch an updated version with support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD).
Soda Drinker Pro allows players to visit a number of locations with a soda in hand. Players can simply sip their drinks as they tour the often strange worlds they find themselves in, which this new release adding features such as a save system, soda customisation and event achievements. Fans of the original title will also remember Vivian Clark, the hidden videogame that can be found within the experience, which has been expanded by as much as ten times for the new version.
Currently the developer is working with the first development kit (DK1) for the Oculus Rift although is planning to implement the second development kit (DK2) in the near future. Those that purchased the original version of Soda Drinker Pro will also be treated to a free Steam key of the new release. The developer has teased that there will also be ‘special guests’ appearing in the experience, though further details are yet to be revealed.
