It’s been a little while since indie developer Breakout Studio provided an update on its upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible massively multiplayer online roleplaying (MMORPG) experience, Life of Rome. The title is still running a Steam Greenlight campaign in hopes of launching on Valve’s digital store in the future, and has made some significant progress towards approval in recent weeks. Now the developer has released new images of the title, which can currently be seen below.
As the developer explains, the three images showcase Basilica of Maxentius, the largest building in the ancient Roman Forum. Players will get to experience this historic structure as it was originally intended as they explore Rome for themselves as either a Roman or Barbarian.
Life of Rome centres itself around the conflict between these two factions, allowing players to build their own political structures and hierarchies. The title is planning to release an Alpha in 2015 and includes full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). VRFocus will continue to follow Life of Rome‘s progress, reporting back with any further updates on the title.
