It’s been a while since indie developer Honor Code, Inc. has provided an update on its virtual reality (VR) compatible survival title, Narcosis. The developer shared a fresh look at the title back in November 2014 but, aside from that update, hasn’t really been heard from since the 2014 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, California, USA. As it turns out, fans are likely set to receive an update on Narcosis at the 2015 edition of the event, as the developer has recently confirmed that it will be attending.
Honor Code, Inc. will be showcasing Narcosis as part of a group of five Unity Engine developers that will be setting up shop at the Humble Bundle HQ on 4th and 5th March 2015. That’s a short walk from the Moscone Center in which GDC itself is being held from 2nd – 6th March. Also on display as part of the showcase is Camouflaj’s RÉPUBLIQUE REMASTERED, 17-Bit’s Galak-Z: The Dimensional, XRA’s Memory of a Broken Dimension and N-Fusion Interactive’s Space Noir. It appears that the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) version of Narcosis will be available.
Narcosis is a first-person survival experience with horror elements which starts out with the protagonist surviving a catastrophic accident that leaves them at the bottom of the ocean. It’s up to players to ensure the character’s survival as they tour the ocean bed, looking for sources of air. At last year’s GDC, Honor Code, Inc. revealed to VRFocus that it was hoping to bring the title to PlayStation 4 with support for the Project Morpheus HMD in the future. Such a port is yet to be confirmed.
Expect to hear an update from Narcosis in the weeks to come, then. VRFocus will be at GDC to bring you all of the latest updates on all VR titles and hardware.
