A new virtual reality (VR) videogame that is designed to deliver the experience of being a superhero, Megaton Rainfall, has been confirmed to appear at the Game Developer’s Conference (GDC), San Francisco, next week. Developer Pentadimensional Games will showcase the title as part of the Indie Megabooth from 3rd – 6th March 2015.
Megaton Rainfall is a first-person videogame in which the player takes control of an ‘indestructible interdimensional superbeing’ and is tasked with the not-so-simple goal of saving the Earth from an alien invasion. The videogame’s highlights, according to the developer, include an ‘unprecedented freedom of movement’ and ‘unprecedented scale of destruction’.
The platforms on which Megaton Rainfall will be made available have not yet been revealed, however Pentadimensional Games have made it clear that VR compatibility is a priority. An early teaser for the videogame was revealed last month (included below), showcasing the work-in-progress first-person flight-based combat featured in the videogame.
Exactly how much further into development Pentadimensional Games has taken Megaton Rainfall since this early teaser is not currently known, however a playable build at GDC next week could well hold the answer. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on Megaton Rainfall and other VR videogames available at GDC.
