New to Oculus VR Share is Leap Motion controlled virtual reality (VR) videogame Weightless. The title has been followed by VRFocus since it was among the finalists for IndieCades GameJam. The videogame allows players to enjoy the sensation of weightless while interacting with objects. The videogame requires the Leap Motion sensor as well as the second iteration of the Oculus Rift (DK2) head-mounted display (HMD).
As stated by the developer Martin Schubert, he wanted to create an experience which couldn’t be replicated using a mouse or controller. This is why it was decided that the videogame would revolve around the player investigating objects in space and then categorising them using little nudges and hand movements. To move, the player can hold their hands in front of the HMD and push forward away from the user. Once in this position the player can move their hands left or right to strafe. The key is to separate both human and non-human artefacts by putting them in the correct units by nudging them.
In IndieCade’s 3-D Game Jam Schubert won 2nd place winning $3,000 and travel to IndieCade East. VRFocus will keep you updated on the latest Oculus Shares.
