Now available on Oculus VR Share is VR Pong. Developed by Nejc Lešek, the title is a virtual reality (VR) recreation of the original Pong released back in 1972. The videogame is compatible with the second development kit (DK2) of Oculus Rift’s head-mounted display (HMD).
VR Pong re-imagines the original title with it’s new neon style look. The premise of the videogame is the same, however it is intended to set itself apart by using the positional tracking to lean in, as things will be happening all around. During the game a ball will be flung from one side of the arena to the other, it is the player’s job to deflect this ball. Users can do this at certain angles to catch the other player off guard. Also, the game will feature power-ups and weapons which can be used to defend the player or attack the enemy. These weapons will include missile launchers, laser shields and a gravity pulse gun. To aim the weapons, players must use the HMD.
The developer has stated that the next published revision will be available in the next few weeks and will include new multiplayer mode so that users can play competitively online. Also there will be a ‘few other tricks along with an updated version of Unreal Engine (4.7)’.
VRFocus will keep you updated on VR Pong.
