Previously VRFocus reported on VRBits top down virtual reality (VR) shooter videogame, NightTime Terrors releasing a demo. The indie developer has been developing another title ,Darkfield, but has managed to release NightTime Terrors as well. The title is set inside a child’s nightmares as players must shoot toys to stay alive. This videogame is compatible with the second development kit (DK2) of Oculus Rift’s head-mounted display (HMD).
The enemies players must face are a child’s twisted nightmarish versions of cuddly toys. Users have to use a machine gun to destroy the enemies which then drop power-ups which augment the weapons. Other weapons also feature including shotguns, a power pistol, minigun and a rocket launcher. Settings for the title include normal play areas for children including living room floors, desk tops and bedroom carpets. These locations are intended to be nostalgic of childhood ‘playtime’. The videogame also allows players to compete with each other through the use of online leaderboards.
VRBits have conveyed interest in bringing NightTime Terrors to Google Cardboard and Samsung’s Gear VR in the near future, however release details have not been announced yet. The videogame is available on NightTime Terrors website for $7.99 USD. VRFocus will keep you updated on the latest VR content.
