For the past few months virtual reality (VR) fans have been able to enjoy a pre-release version of VR compatible racing title, MotorSport Revolution. Indie studio Ghost Machine launched the title through Steam Early Access, offering fans an early glimpse of what to expect in the full version. Said version will be arriving in the very near future as the developer has announced a full launch on 15th January 2015. As with the Early Access release MotorSport Revoltuion will feature support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD).
Included in the final version of this first and third-person VR racer is a career mode that takes players on a tour of the different tracks and cars available. Completing this mode will unlock extra content. The single-player racing experience features over 20 different vehicles, though only 11 of these will be available in this version. Ten different tracks are taken from different countries across the globe such as Canada, Brazil and Belgium. The title features full support for the Oculus Rift’s second development kit (DK2).
“We’re very excited to be partnering with Steam as they continue to advance virtual-reality as a gaming and entertainment platform of the future,” Ghost Machine CEO Neal Nellans said of the announcement. “The Steam release of Motorsport Revolution is proof that there is a growing interest and player base for VR native games.” While the developer has confirmed that the title’s pricing will be different to the £10.99 GBP Early Access price, a final cost has yet to be announced.
VRFocus will continue to follow MotorSport Revolution, reporting back with any further updates.
